There are at least 114 species of butterflyfish. Butterfly fish is named that way because of the attractive coloration of their body. They can be black, orange, yellow, red, silver and white in color, with different kind of spots and patterns on their body.

The poisonous spines in its body are one of the factors that help the puffer fish to survive, and it has the ability to produce a poison known as quaternary toxin, which is poisonous by 1200 times the poison of cyanide. This poison is secreted throughout the body, which makes touching the fish very dangerous and even more dangerous when eating it.

ألاشواك السامةفى جسمها هى أحد العوامل التي تساعد السمكة المنتفخة على البقاء ، ولها القدرة على إنتاج سم يعرف باسم السم الرباعي وهو سام بمقدار 1200 ضعف سم السيانيد. يتم إفراز هذا السم في جميع أنحاء الجسم ، مما يجعل لمس السمكة خطراً جداً بل وأكثر خطورة عند تناولها
